So I know I topic is a little strange, but I was just pondering upon a question that I randomly thought of :

If you were driving and contemplated on picking up someone who seemed to be in trouble on the side of the road (yes, hitchhiking). Now even though it's a sketchy situation there has to be some sympathy for a person like that right? You wouldn't just pick up some 6 foot tall guy in a Jack the Ripper coat. My question is what would your acception of letting someone in your car have be? What would they have to look like or how would their story have to sound ?

  1. Only time I would most likely pull over for a person is if, number one they have to be a child. I don't know about anybody else but I have a soft spot for children and I can't pass up some little black girl on the side of the road looking lost. That would hit home and I'd automatically pull over. I would also pull over for a young woman, or a pregnant woman, a young black man. The way society is nowadays the last thing I would want is a young black man out here walking around because who knows what would happen to him. It seems like we can't depend on the cops nowadays so I wouldn't want him out here walking around lost either; but that's just me.

  2. I have generously pulled over and offered people a ride only a few times. I usually when I do this it is when I know I don't have anything in the car of value to me. I feel like every person too is also reasonable in some way. I'm not too concerned that anyone would try to take my car, but if they wanted it and really meant business I would not fight them for it. It would be nice if people could just be decent and honest. I put my trust and respect into people in hopes to get it in return really from anybody that needs it.
